Bratton's Engine Stand Adapter

Has anybody used this with a Harbor Freight engine stand. There does not appear to be an easy way to adapt it. Only way I can figure is to exchange it for the one in the stand and then drill a bunch of holes in the steel tube so you can rotate it around. Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Kieran

If the tube on the engine stand has a hole in it, you can weld a nut over that hole and then use a bolt that goes through the nut and through the hole to hold the adapter wherever you want..

Do you have access to a welder?

I have the 1000lb Harbor Frieght engine stand and basically took a piece of angle iron drilled holes to bolt to top of the oil pan flange on the block and a couple holes to bolt to flange on the engine stand. Then made spacers for the top legs of the engine stand and bolted to the water outlet.

Re: Bratton's Engine Stand Adapter

A club member loaned me his adapter but the pipe was too small for my HF stand. I made my own bracket and drilled holes in it to pin in place or hold in position like 1955cj5. I also drilled holes in the end so I can stick in a breaker bar to rotate it. I believe the bracket you are looking at are the same from most of the vendors, including Bill Stipe of Specialty Motor Cams, who might be the company that makes them. They don't have them listed on their website as they are changing it, but they are in their catalog for $78.00

They only fit the small tube engine stands

Correct and why I made my own adapter. I have a 1 ton stand and it takes a 3" pipe for the adapter. Overkill for a Model A engine, but I use it for other engines as well.

Drilled my own holes to fit the adapter.

I got one from Specialty Motor Cams and you need to drill the hole to match the location of the hole on the stand but not a big deal worked fine for me.
