Pulling the engine in my AA Truck Setting about to pull the engine in my truck. Everything in order. Looking closer at the transmission case, it looks like it had a partial repair of the outer case. I knew something had been done from looking below. It is a four speed with side mounted PTO for the dump bed.
Although I was only planning on pulling the engine, I was thinking that with what I have seen of the transmission case, while I was going through the hassle of removing the engine, I should probably also remove the transmission. Two quick questions: 1. Should they be removed as one whole unit or do engine and then transmission? 2. If as one unit, what would be the estimated combined weight of the two. Thanks, Kieran Maine |
Re: Pulling the engine in my AA Truck My ccpu had a 4-speed.
I pulled the engine by itself and then the transmission. That 4-speed transmission is pretty heavy, and in your case with the added weight of the PTO unit the assembly might hang at a pretty steep angle, and may be difficult to handle. If you plan to support the engine with the loops that screw into the spark plug holes I would pull the engine alone, and then the transmission. You need to separate them anyway.... |

Re: Pulling the engine in my AA Truck I have a almost complete trans 4 speed and a later 4speed transmission case, it would be expensive to ship, but I will not be using either one.

Re: Pulling the engine in my AA Truck Big Hammer,
Thanks for the info. Does either one have the PTO? Could you PM me price for them? Thanks, Kieran |
