Air conditioning

Just a thought, what if I used a AA radiator shell to mount my condenser out in front of the radiator on a De Luxe coupe? I'm told a guy in the Santa Clara club did that on his pick up and that it works great and doesn't leap out at you so bad. Have andy on this forum done that? What are the plusses and minusses?

Thanks
Dave waaarrm.....out here.

I dont see why it wouldnt work, would look kinda funky if the AC didnt cover the entire front of the normal radiator tho as there would be a large gap.

with our kit cond with fan mounted in the rear between the frame( why would you want the cond sticking out in front?)

A guy down in Houston tried it this way and sold several kits. Many buyers found it caused their cars to run hotter. With it under the rear of the car it doesn't affect the cooling of the engine. Ken Davis sells his with the condenser under the rear. We have 3 of his kits and they work great.

The cooling system on modern cars and trucks are designed to handle the heat load dissipated by the condenser. Not quite true for the Model A.
Mounting the condenser at the rear between the frame rails removes the condenser heat load from the cooling system. I don't run a Ken Davis kit and I have noticed no engine temperature rise with the condenser at the rear.

Would the AA shell interfere with the headlight bar? I'm thinking it would.

Back when I was a pup, I mounted an AA shell and radiator on a sedan. There wasn't any interference with the headlight bar then. There might be if the A/C + the A radiator was thicker than the AA radiator was.
