A new find

6 Attachment(s)
I recently drug this home over the weekend. It is from north western Oklahoma. She still has nearly everything in tact. Looks to be original with some sort of repaint many years ago. The chassis is in outstanding condition as is the sheet metal with only a few spots of minor rust. The driveline is still in tact. It was just to nice to pass up. I will be doing some research to find a bit more about it as soon as time permits. Right now I just had to unload it and give it a new home.

Hello Buzz, welcome to the Barn.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you intend to do.

Mart.

Sets tall like a 1941. Does it have the V8 or the I6? Looks like a good start on a good model to have.

Hi, welcome to the FordBarn. nice looking pickup, tell us more about it, and
tell us a little bit about your '40 coupe.

Also, Maybe the Boss-Man here, (Ryan) will see your thread. He is looking
for a solid pickup like yours.............. (just sayin) ;)

Thanks for the welcome.
Plans include to keep this one original with just a few modern upgrades like 12volt system. Plans are to go through everything and rebuild. Currently have another 40 pickup in build so this one will have to wait its turn but I plan on giving it a bit of attention when time permits.

It was from north western Oklahoma. A gentleman had it in his shop for the last 20 years. He passed and it was for sale. The pickup is all in tact and as solid as I have ever seen for a pickup. I have been chasing 40 parts for 30 years and this is my best find to date. It is to nice to do anything but restore to its original beauty. I have a hotrod coupe and am building a hotrod pickup so this going to original will be great. I don't think it will be going anywhere (just sayin);)

Welcome to the barn, you have a nice project there, keep the barn in the loop as you progress with your truck.

Now that is a beauty! It is really rare to find the sheet metal on a truck in that condition - nice score for sure.

I'm originally from southwestern Kansas so I know the climate. It stays pretty dry there for the most part. If a person keeps there stuff in a garage or at least covered, corrosion will remain minimal. Farm folks were generally kind of hard on their pickups & trucks in the region but they don't rust very much. That one looks like it had an easier life than a lot of them did.

I had heard that they still existed but was skeptical :)

I am quite surprised and very happy. I will have 20 grand in metal work tied up in my other one by the time it is over so this will be nice start.
Rotorwrench any good flathead engine builders in San Antonio for when the time comes for me to yank it ?

rotorwrench 08-01-2017 12:22 PM

Re: A new find

None that I can speak from experience about. There used to be some good ones but they seem to have died off or retired. I was told of a place on the north west side called Miller's Automotive Machine Shop but I haven't taken anything to them yet.

PS: I found the thread where I was told that. The fellow to talk to is named Wayne.

If you are not a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club you might want to join. The V-8 Times magazine is worth the price of admission. Lots of great flathead info and resources for parts. The roster of members will help you find other members in your area and they may have info on engine rebuilders, etc. Here's the website; www.earlyfordv8.org.

NICE truck..... it would be very hard to even think about parting with that one... you'd better re-think that plan:eek:.
