No Cretin....not a 40 Mercury, it's very similar to 1939 in layout and form but the speedo on a 39 Merc is arched, not flat like this one.....Also have never seen any of the "other" gauges In V8 Fords colored like the temp gauge is on this one??? A 39 Merc also doesn't have the little "raised hump" on the top of the speedo like this one???

I'm not knowledgeable on dashes, but it sure looks similar to this one. Which is ID as a 40 Merc Dlx.

Those early Mercury cars always had a skirt or extension that sort of covered the steering column. The speedo itself looks like a 40 Merc but the housing? Maybe a Canadian or UK car?

Maybe so then for 40, I posted this for another Barner who got it along with other parts that came with a 40 Mercury he bought, he said it didn't match the dash in his Mercury that why he was asking me about the 39 (because of my Avatar) as he was having troubles posting pictures....I "assumed" since he had the car right there and the extra dash, right there, that it was deadwood proof of not being a 40 BUT said CROW is now on the plate!!!!

Re: Any ideas on this dash?

It doesn't have the extended part that covers the steering column like a 1940 unless they made a different one to all the ones I've seen for that year. The angles on the right & left lower sides aren't on the 1940 models that I've seen either. As far as I know, which isn't much, I don't recall Mercury having any standard or deluxe. They were just Mercury cars. Of the coupes, tudors, fordors, wagons, and convertibles, I don't know if they made a different dash for any one of them or not. A Mercury specialist from the era might be able to tell the story better than I can. Lincolns were completely different.

This link better illustrates a 1940 Mercury that I'm more familiar with. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1940-MERCURY...D/232161519080

It took me a while but I finally can see that one fits inside the other. The one illustrated above is the gauge panel that fits inside the actual dash since the sheet metal is solid on it.

@ rotorwrench
Your link is what I know the 40 dash to be, that is the same dash we have for our 40 Merc Convertible......again I'm posting for a fellow barner.....this came is a stash of parts with a 40 Merc Convertible he bought......he said he compared it to the one in his car and its not a match???? SO I don't know thus the reason for the posting.
