28-29 model a pu roof options
 

Hi guys I have a 28/29 pickup.I was wondering if anyone makes a steel roof for it?any help would be great,thanks josh

The 28-9 roof was always wooden ribs, chicken wire, and fabric. Later in 1931 Ford went with their first all steel cab roof but that was the only all steel roof on a pickup cab. I don't know of anyone who makes such a roof for the 28-9 ccpu. It would be difficult as the fabric not only covers the roof but comes down all the way around about 3-4" so the metal roof would look pretty homemade.

FYI (covered in the current RGJS) - unlike most body types, the closed cabs (82-A/B) and the panel deliveries (79-A/B and 85-A/B) did not have roof chicken wire like other body types. And these body types did have head liners below the roof bows.

Some time ago (several years), there was an Ebay ad for someone making a formed metal top for the 82-A closed cab (not original but looked good).

When I bought my 29ccpu eons ago it had a nicely made copper roof painted black.
