That was my first thought also, but after looking at the rolled edge, it looks like it might be solid like the cast drum has. It's hard to tell from the camera angle and shadow.

I am thinking like Tom. Look at the roll edge and if it is curved on the inside of the roll, it is steel, and if it is solid, as Tom and I are seeing, than it is cast iron. A photo from an angle would help.

No rolled edge. Looks solid, so it's cast iron after all.

The top edge in the first pic looks too smooth to be cast iron, and you can see what appears to be the edge of the rolled edge in the last pic.

The cast iron drums I've seen are finished very smooth to better resemble an original steel drum. :)
