36 to 35 If I want to switch my 36 Coupe to 35 grill, will I basically need the whole front or is there any parts that are the same? Just curious, always liked the 35 grill better and the car is still in field find condition, as yet to be started on

Re: 36 to 35 Seems like you would have to replace the whole front clip back to the cowl to make a 35 ?

Re: 36 to 35 Actually the whole front end, including the cowl and fenders, front and rear and bumpers would have to be replaced with '35 parts. The instruments in a '35 are also different from a '36. the '36 has an electric fuel gauge where as the '35 is a mechanical.
Much easier to just sell the '36 and buy a '35.. |
Re: 36 to 35 I'm thinking this is more of a Hot Rod/Custom type of thing vs anything close to a restoration. Willow might want to clarify if he wants the finished car to look like a 35 all the way around inside and out or just wants the front grill and what ever it takes to get it to fit.

Re: 36 to 35 No plans to restore it. I will probably just keep the original patina and do more of a 50s style rod. I'd have to find someone willing to trade front clips I suppose. It seems more people prefer the 36 look over the 35. I'm not one of them. But I don't hate it either, just asking.thanks

Changing things around is a common Hot Rod thing, like Jake's 34 front end.

Re: 36 to 35 When I was in high school in the '50's, I crunched the front end of my '36 tudor. The local junkyard didn't have any '36 parts at the time, but did have a complete '35 front end. I was able to get it on and the car driving with no trouble when I was 17, so you should be able to do it. I had to use the complete front sheet metal (fenders, grille and hood) to make it work. I don't remember any problems (running boards and hood latches not matching, etc.), but it was a looooong time ago.
