what is the most common cause of horn blowing when steering wheel is turned? friends truck does this rarely. thanx should add this is good original switch, everything in there looks good, new repop horn rod

I would say that the horn wire in the horn rod has a bear spot. the horn works using the horn button to ground the wire. They make replacement wire kits.

It must grounding somewhere. I'd start by cleaning the switch at the lower end of the steering column. Oil dirt build up in there might be a partial cause. Check for a bared wire where the wires enter the horn case. Good luck. Jeff

In the middle of the wiring harness switch plate is the horn contact, it stands proud above the plate contact surface on a spring. This spring contact is what contacts the end of the light switch rod.Sometimes this spring contact rubs against the hole through the upper rotating switch plate inside the light switch. I place a piece of shrink tubing on the spring leaving the contact surface clear, this usually fixes the "steering wheel turning/ honking horn problem".

I use a piece of a large soda straw.
