Buyer beware

I wrestled with this for awhile, but finally decided to let everyone know of a very deceitful fleEbay seller. He goes by vintagecarpartsetc. I'm hoping that it's not anyone on the Barn, as all of you seem very good natured and honest.
Anyway, he doesn't really say much in his descriptions, but rather says to ask questions about the item. He also shows pictures of the item, but is very careful "not" to show any defects.
The item I purchased was obviously defective. It took me about 2 seconds to see that once I had it in my hand. I contacted him and all he said was I should have ask if it was defective. He knew it was but never disclosed it in the auction. I could have sent it back and lost the shipping charges both ways, but decided to take it as a lesson learned.
So let my lesson be your lesson and stay clear of this guy.

Re: Buyer beware

Ebay will make the selller eat the shipping. If you bought using a credit card, They will take the money out of his account and he can worry about getting it back, Worked like magic for me.

If you used paypal they will go after him for you. You also have buyer protection from ebay. Start a claim with ebay against him.

Re: Buyer beware

I just got back about $17 on eBay (supposedly free shipping) for some Monel staples I bought about 5 weeks ago and the seller didn't send them to me. Ebay credited my PayPal account for the money. It was pretty straight forward. It took about a week to get the refund. Overall, I have had very few problems on eBay or the swap site here on Fordbarn.

BTW, I tried to user search "vintagecarpartsetc" on eBay and it found nothing.

You also have recourse when posting feedback for him. It can be somewhat satisfying, but do go after your refund as mentioned above.

If you haven't raised an ebay complaint then you haven't really given the seller a chance to remedy the situation. You might be surprised at the change in attitude.
Do it soon as there will be a limited time window.

In the last 6 months he has received no negative feedback, only 1 neutral feedback and over 400 positive ratings - must be doing something honestly.
