can be fixed with a large bottle of Barr's block sealer, the type with copper particals. I just sealed a few small leaks in the radiator yesterday. I warmed the engine and with the radiator almost filled I slowly poured the stop leak in watching the water circulate. The leaks stopped in about 8 minutes. This should be used in all old Ford engines to stop or prevent head gasket and stud bolt leaks. Leave the cap on over night after shutdown to force the sealer into any leaks. G.M. |
Re: Recommendation - cooling system leak I have always used Barr's too, it don't clog radiators and heater cores but I just heard a friend from a dealership say they have some kind of powdered ginger that works really well. On something as small and easy to fix as a thermostat housing, I would take it off and fix it right. Check it for flat with a straight edge, lap it with a sheet of good sand paper or emery and a real flat surface, like a pane of glass.
