'40 headlight switch The headlight switch in the 40 is original, and seems to work ok except in the parking/taillight position the conductivity is not real good. Sure the contacts in the switch need to be cleaned. I would like to use something like CRC's Electroclean to spray into the switch. Any experiences Fodbarners could share on this. Also, does the knob, (original), come off or does the knob & shaft pull out as in some headlight switches. Thank you Fordbarners.

Re: '40 headlight switch Knob and shaft come out together. There is a little release hole in the switch. I have opened a couple up and cleaned them and reassembled and they work good.

Re: '40 headlight switch Third on that! I've never found anything wrong in early Ford switches except for 70 years of dirt. Just be real cautious on disassembly because the little springs are going to try to jump out and run away. Clean, polish the contacts, grease, and reassemble! Put a note in your will to remind your descendants to repeat a few decades down the road!

Re: '40 headlight switch Thank you all. any recommendations on a spray in cleaner, as I prefer not to disturb the switch's 75 plus year nap.
