Test meter

You have read here all the time about using an analog meter when tracing down electrical problems.

How about checking your point gap without ever opening the distributor?

Adjusting the carb (carbs)?

I suggest picking up an old Heathkit tune up meter ID-29. You only need to hook up 2 wires to the coil for checking tach. and dwell.

I got one a short while ago and love it.

Here is one that even includes the tach calibration cord.

Heathkit Model ID-29 Automotive Tune Up Meter (note this is from NJ and I'm from Fl. so no, it is not mine.)
