Re: Name change...Fordson to The Rouge? I don't think it was just a name change;
"The first land vehicles actually assembled in the Rouge were not cars but farm tractors. No sooner had Henry Ford achieved low-cost transportation with the Model T than he set his sights on doing the same for the world’s farmers. In 1921 production of the world's first mass-produced tractor, the Fordson, was transferred from the original Dearborn plant to the Rouge." I read this to mean the Rouge plant was always the Rouge plant. Here is the website the quote above comes from. Tell me what you think. history-and-timeline/fords-rouge/ |
Re: Name change...Fordson to The Rouge? Perhaps some of the confusion originates from the fact that the first vehicles produced on the site were the WWI Eagle boats, then the post war Fordson tractors. I don't think cars were actually assembled there until 1927?
