Light Torque Areas Should be Checked
 

I had a reason to be under my car and noticed some oil leaks. I checked the bolts on the valve cover, the oil return tube and the oil pan. On some of them I got an entire turn or more.

I know the torque values on these are pretty light...so just saying perhaps they should be annually checked.

Hmmm...Great tip. Got me wondering about specs for torquing various nuts. Seems to be a controversial subject:

I cut the page out of last year's Bratton's catalog where he lists all of the torque specifications, taped it to the cabinet in the shop and used it routinely as I reassembled my engine. Only missing value was for the bolts that attach the flywheel housing to the block.
