Dropped zerk fitting in clutch I was trying to swap out old zerk fitting with new one to grease throwout bearing or carrier and dropped the new one down the housing-- any ideas how to get it back out?? I tried a magnet but it never picked it up. Wondering if it's in bottom of case would it be alright for it to remain there?? My concern is it coming up through my clutch when it's running and nuking my clutch??

you can go underneath take the wish bone loose the mount brkt will come off and you will be able to get it from the bottom of the bell housing kevin |
Re: Dropped zerk fitting in clutch One trick is to put a glob of grease on the flywheel through the starter mounting hole. Rotate the engine with the crank and see if the dropped part is captured by the grease.

Re: Dropped zerk fitting in clutch Or you can leave it there. I just got two Bendix bolts outa that place when I took my Fly wheel cover off. None the worse for the wear!

Re: Dropped zerk fitting in clutch Try one of the flexible cables with a magnet attached. I have gotten out starter bolts, washers etc with one. You could try going down through the inspection plate or go in through the starter hole.

Try the best you can with a bright light or scope light if you have one to try and find it. You migt try rotating the engine around to see if its actually I the pressure plate area. If its at the bottom of the bell housing don't lose sleep over that. Hopefully it will pick up in the magnet Larry |
Re: Dropped zerk fitting in clutch I did see a bolt get caught in the ring gear and poke a small hole in the flywheel cover once, but that's the only time I saw loose hardware cause a problem.

Re: Dropped zerk fitting in clutch Remove starter motor, attach a rubber hose onto the end a portable vacumn cleaner hose, push the other end of the hose to the bottom of the housing, behind the flywheel and switch on the vacumn. Works every time.
