35 Sedan delivery roof fill

I have a 35 Sedan Delivery the roof insert has been filled and leaded in with what I believe is a 39 Ford roof the contour is way off does anyone know of a donor vehicle that may have the correct contour that can be welded in?

As the owner of a 35 Sedan Delivery as well, I don't see any "real" option other than "maybe" trying to fix it back to original with the soft insert top. 1937 started the solid roof, "Maybe" a 37 two door roof section would work and not as "curved" as a 39?? But if your gonna go through that much effort IMO just fix it back to the correct roof insert and be done.

You might check on the HAMB. There may be a station wagon that has a close profile.

The recessed step in the roof opening has been massacred a bit. Thought it might be easier just to fill it

Check with Walden Speed Shop, they make what you need.

Re: 35 Sedan delivery roof fill

bob,
My '35 2dr sedan had a filled in roof and I thought it detracted from the style,
at least to my eye. When I restored the car I media blasted the body and could see
the way the insert was installed. With the headliner removed it was clear the wood
stringers were long gone as was 3/4 of the lip that ran around the insert area. After
I worried the metal filler piece out and cleaned up the whole area a buddy who is a
good wood guy fashioned a piece of 3/16 plywood and ribbed it on the bottom side
to create a gentle crown front to back and side to side.
ANYHOO
The plywood fitted the opening just right, we upholstered it and used construc-
tion adhesive to secure it to the opening. My buddy was smart enough to leave room
for the rubber trim stripping to be installed. It looked great and zero leaks.
