CCPU?? latch comparison

4 Attachment(s)
I bought what I thought was a 28 to mid 30 CCPU door latch at a recent swap meet. When I compared it to a known CCPU latch I have, I noticed several differences. First the handle has a slight offset (first picture). Second, the main part is shaped differently (square) than the known CCPU latch which is somewhat rounded on the bottom. Third, there are no D nuts on the main plate to mount the latch, just holes. The gray latch mechanisms look the same as the known CCPU latch. Could the gray latch be for a model T? Any help identifying the gray latch would be appreciated.

I am attaching some picture I took of the questionable latch (gray finish) and what I am sure is a CCPU door latch next to it.

Rusty,
I always considered those "T"......along with the non checker board doors.
I'm sure it could be modified to fit an A door tho...

Dudley,
I looked at Lang's model T catalog and I could see no latches like this one. The 26/27 latches look like 28/mid 30 latches. I doubt earlier T's would look anything like the one in question.

The square latch (grey) is T, the other latch with the rounded lower corner and D nunts is 28-29 truck.

I agree, the mystery latch is for a 26/27 model T closed car. Mystery solved. Thanks all for the help.

Mine look like yours, the one is for the left side the other for the right side. I have took both apart to restore them. What I found was one was made for a lock devise and one wasn't. The one that doesn't lock with a key locks when you slide the handle forward or backwards (sorry be a few years cents I rebuilt them. lol all times setting in.

My understanding is the 1926-27 Coupe-Tudor latch is basically the same as the 1928-29 closed pickup, with the exception of having provisions for a key lock on the right side. They will have "D" nuts or threaded holes for mounting. I have a pair of latches with the countersunk holes and the square corners that I took off a pair of 1924-25 coupe (wood framed) doors.
