What color were the lisc. plate bracket and arm in '28?

Curious what color the lisc plate holder and arm were on a '28 Roadster. Body color or black?

Thank you. I'm new to Model A's. Was this a flat, semi-flat, gloss black?

It was gloss black, Tim. The bracket to hold the light was malleable iron in '28, so not super smooth. But the paint was gloss.

As someone that is new to Model A's, and obviously interested in trying to "do it right", I recommend you get a book the we refer to as the Restoration Guidelines. It has so many details like this documented in it, covering the entire car, you can sit and read it for hours. Well, I can, at least! :D And when a question like this comes up, you can find the answer yourself and be confident that you're doing it right.

Here's a link to buy a copy:

This book is not just for the guys that are building a car for fine point judging. It is for anyone who wants to try to restore their car as authentic as they can.

So welcome to the Model A hobby. Feel free to reach out to me with questions about your car.

Agreed - it may seem pricey but there is everything you ever need to know about any part of the model A from finish to months it was used.

But yes gloss black.
