Removing rear brake shoes? Hello,
Is it possible to remove and replace the rear brake shoes without having to un-bolt and remove the emergency brake carrier? Thanks, Doug |
Re: Removing rear brake shoes? If you take off the ebrake band you can get at the main shoe springs. It's a little tight, though.

Re: Removing rear brake shoes? Easier to just take the E brake off and get it out of your way...you're going to end up taking it off anyway

Re: Removing rear brake shoes? Doug,
Yes, you can get them off with a modern Spring removal tool that fits over the spring post on the backing plate but then you have to get the long spring off. Can be done, I do it on occasion but honestly it's a pain to get them back on and just as quick to remove the carrier plate. Unless you are on the game of doing it mechanically so you don't ruin shoes and stretch springs I would remove the e-brake carrier plate. Larry Shepard |
