well now maybe i can join the other thread of elite 40-41 pickup owners! i know, she aint much of a looker, but it was a mile from home, and FREE! how can you turn that down. motor is loose, frame is bad. i hear 35 to 40 frames will interchange, 41 1/2 ton too or have things changed too much? its pretty far down my list right now, but fun to see one in the yard anyway!

Nice find. Love the graphics on the door. Let my '40 go too soon. It had U.S. Mail in rust above the windshield. Extra points for the spare hood complete with bullnose.

Re: my new 41 pickup

the sedan in back is a 27 dodge. i need supervision when going to auctions, this one was selling for 150 bucks and i thought i needed it. it runs, but should live somewhere else

Re: my new 41 pickup

the bed on the 41 is ford script, and really nicely mounted, i believe it is original, and i'll leave it. other than the wood, its in pretty good shape

I think we all need supervision of some sort or other. I can see why you bought it for $150. Different economy up where you live, it seems.

Holy Cow! What a great find. I also like the door graphics and the original stake bed. Wow.

NEWC, good eye, yes thats an mb, needs a new home too. i was a big WW2 collector for a while. had 11 halftracks here, an m7b1 105 howitzer gun carrage and two m16 universal carriers, a bunch of 1/2 and 3/4 ton dodges...and more, all gone now except that jeep, and one nice m38. i always liked those cmp trucks like in your avitar, they are rare here in the states

Re: my new 41 pickup

from what i understand the '35-'40 car/pickup frame will also work for the '41 pickup, but not the '41 car.....have fun.....nice truck....Mike

Re: my new 41 pickup

thank you mike, thats the answer i was looking for. there is an old, old yard here that has a very nice 38ish frame up off the ground and rust free. the old owner was a buddy of mine and i could have had it for free. the old guy died, the son took over and i STILL could have had it. but i chose to wait untill they sold out, and the new guy wont let me get it due to insurance regs. it has a tree growing thru it. in the old days i would jump in they're loader and go get what ever i wanted. this new guy has been telling me for a year and a half he'll get it out for me, and untill now i didnt care as i had no need except to save it from the scrap pile. now...i better push a little harder!

Re: my new 41 pickup

I've had 6 of those '40/'41 pickups over the years and always thought I could pick up another any time real cheap. Well times have changed and I sometimes kick myself for letting the last one go. I wish someone around here had one to give away. I'd be there with a trailer before the owner got to the last e in free! Passenger cars up to ' 40 take the same frame. All you need to do is remove the body mount cups from the passenger frame. 41 pickups are the same as '40 car and trucks. You are a lucky man!

Re: my new 41 pickup

40-41 pickups are one of the nicest looking trucks ever made. For free, you can't go wrong! Post you progress when the time comes .....

Re: my new 41 pickup

As said, car frames will work fine. Just remove the frame mounted, outboard body mounts. If they're in good shape, they are worth something. Don't throw away.

BUT, the radiator mounts off the front crossmember may have to be swapped out for 40-41.
