Re: Original style model a points I had a similar problem with the points I have purchased from multiple sources. I finally took my dremel tool to the plate to enlarge the adjustment enough to get the points to line up properly. The problem is with the points being sold from the large box companies. I didn't try Napa, but maybe theirs will work better. I finally gave up and put in the upper plate that used the new style points. If you can find original points, you will probably have better luck from what I have read over the years.

Re: Original style model a points Thanks for the answer did not want to just go twisting on things.

Re: Original style model a points bnchief, there has to be something wrong with your points block and/or upper plate. Compare your setup with another one which does not have the same problem and I'm fairly certain that the issue will reveal itself.

Re: Original style model a points Here's another thread on distributor problems, and it has pictures at the end with an exploded view, where you can see the enlarged adjusting hole for the points to be lined up.

Re: Original style model a points I bought some points and they were only contacting half way. Had to file the guides half off on the point block and 20 min of bending the arm on the points to get them to match up. I kept the old ones because they may not last seeing how low quality they were.
