orientation of hub grease seal hello- when the hub is on the axle, should the writing side -75AS - of the seal be toward the midline of the car or should the non writing side be toward the midline of the car? thank you------i'm not sure it makes any difference as long as the bearing is not greased thru the grease fitting but rather by removal and then by hand

Does this help

Re: orientation of hub grease seal If it has a lip, it should be pointed outboard to keep grease from going toward the diff. This way, as the grease pushes on the lip, it will tighten around the shaft.

Re: orientation of hub grease seal Be sure to not tap the bearing seal any further in than needed to get the snap ring in the groove.
If it goes to deep it will rub the bearing, and you'll destroy it trying to remove it. |
Re: orientation of hub grease seal thank you as always to those who replied. as always i learned a great deal and the pictures were great

Re: orientation of hub grease seal hello again- i found out something that may help people who search "grease seals" in future-the seals i'm referring to came from snyder's- in general, the springs go toward the grease side but i did not see any spring on the seals i bought- but when the rubber is pushed up with a blunt object, sure enough there is a spring - so no problem in orientation
thanks to all who replied, they taught me alot |
