8BA intake on 59 motor The blower I'm installing on my 1946 59L motor sits on an 8BA intake, which I'll be using.
The questions are: I'll be using an electric fuel pump, do I replace the fuel pump and stand with an oil fill stand? ( I thought I read somewhere that I could keep the original stand and block off the fuel pump hole. Is this true?) Does the oil pan vent tube still need to be installed under the oil fill stand? Do I have to seal up the front oil pan vent? Do I then seal up the oil fill and breather holes in the front of the intake? Am I missing anything else? Thank you, Joe |
Re: 8BA intake on 59 motor You will need venting in the intake as the 59 vents down the tube in the valley to the right front of oil pan, unlike the 8BA road draft style.
And the last 59 that I put an electric pump on with manual removed, I put a press fit pin in the pump bushing hole. |
Re: 8BA intake on 59 motor You went thru all of these questions about 2 months ago on this site.
Not much has changed. |

This is why I asked the question again. I'm simply looking for help in an area I'm not familiar with. I'm not a seasoned flathead builder and I just started to get into these motors about 5 years ago so I don't have the experience that some here do. |

Re: 8BA intake on 59 motor You could use this for vent and fill.

Re: 8BA intake on 59 motor Joe,
Starting on top I'd plug the road draft tube hole and keep the oil fill tube in place. You may have to put a bit of a kink in the oil fill tube to clear the LH rad hose, no big deal. That funky Speedway breather is too cool not to use. Be sure to conjure up a removeable plug for the f/p push rod bushing, that is a must in my opinion. Leave the vent open on the RH front of the pan but do not forget to have some type of mesh in the vent cavity. Mesh keeps crap from getting in but more critical it condenses some of the blowby. This is my opinion only and I certainly respect and value any and all opinions here on the Barn. Charlie ny |

Is there a tapered type of plug that could be used in the bushing hole? |
