Chevy distributor advance limit bushing

Maybe you all have this already figured out. I've been dinking around trying to get my mechanical advance limited for the flathead. I had a rubber tubing bushing that split and was trying to make something work. I was grinding a 3/16" nut down to somewhat close dimensions and dropped it. While looking for it I found a piece of Moroso 7mm spark plug wire insulation that had rolled under a cabinet. The white core measured 3/16" so I stripped the black insulation off and measured the thickness. As the picture attempts to show, the core insulation is a little off-center, making a variable thickness outer insulation. The outer insulation just fits as a bushing for the advance limit post and can be rotated to suit.

Has been accomplished with a screw or weld the slot shorter.

Just for discussion the chevy cam assemblys are numbered and offer different levels of mech advance based on engine, drivetrain etc. A common number is a 24 which has 24 degrees of advance when used with the rubber bushing.

Another tuning tip from our web site...We offer these ready to go on your distributor , drilled .tapped with adjustment wrench (.050) for $50 includes shipping.....
Takes some time to do this with special jig....

Yes, it does. And thanks for the plug. Always nice.

On the last few I did I used a 3-48 set screw instead of a 4-40. Leaves more meat around the hole.
