48 merc with rhino liner I am looking at a 48 Mercury coupe. The owner bought this survivor about 20 years ago. He then put a so so paint job on it. He sprayed the interior with Rhino Liner to deaden the sound and then reupholstered it with ok stuff.
This is a Nor Cal car How hard is it to get rid of the Rhino Liner? Tim |
Re: 48 merc with rhino liner I would ask the folks who apply it on a daily basis.

Re: 48 merc with rhino liner I hate when somebody damages a perfectly good car.

Re: 48 merc with rhino liner This may require explosives...
Also, the stuff might have been used as a quick and dirty coverup and stiffener for rust holed floor. Difficult repairs concealed by very difficult layer of whatever it is... |
Re: 48 merc with rhino liner Why do you want to get rid of the rhino liner?
|
Re: 48 merc with rhino liner I'll guess cuz roofing tar is more period correct. Did I guess right? 8^) Jack E/NJ

Re: 48 merc with rhino liner Anytime you find a funny coating in an old car you have to worry about the steel it covers...
perhaps you can tell if floor is sound from underneath. If not...could be someone's quick and dirty coverup of a floor that is about to disintegrate. |

Re: 48 merc with rhino liner I too would not want that stuff on the inside of my car. I might try heat to remove it. With that said I have put sound deadening material in my car on the interior everywhere. If someone else where to purchase my car I think they might think the same as you are. What's under this stuff.
|
Re: 48 merc with rhino liner I will pass on it.

Re: 48 merc with rhino liner Rhino Liner or Lizard Skin? The latter is a sound deadening material, that also blocks
heat transfer. Goes on the same as RL. Much easier to remove. |
