i need some help installing a new ignition in my 39 ford deluxe never have done one thanks I meant to say ignition switch

A little more information would help. Are you asking about the distributor, ignition
switch, wiring loom or all of the above.

The key lock on the column drop is more of a lock out of the ignition switch on the early V8 FoMoCo vehicles plus it locks the steering shaft. The ignition switch is a simple switch that puts power to the ignition coil and instrument panel gauges.

Are you referring to the key lock or just the electrical switch assembly? The two are somewhat interrelated due to the lock out feature but you can get to the switch block from the engine side of the column drop.
