Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 Good morning Ford Barners.
I have come up against a wall and I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have been looking for a pair of rear spring hangers for the front leaf springs on a '52 F1 (part number: 7RC-5340). These are the cast hangers/mounts that are riveted directly to the frame and connect the rear eye of the front leaf springs. The pair I have are very badly worn from years of neglect and really are un-useable or repairable. Every place I have looked does not have any in stock. Can someone direct me to a vendor that would have these parts available? I've looked at most of the big guys - Drake, Carpenter, Little Dearborn, C&G, etc. and have come up empty. Perhaps there is a smaller, or mom 'n pop vendor out there that has a couple of these. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Thor |
Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 You might try All Ford Parts. Joblot is gone now and several other outfits that stocked NOS parts have disappeared too in the last few years. You may have to settle for good used but at least they were common to all of the 48 thru 52 F1, 2, & 3.

Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 Worse come to worse, you can have them welded up and re-machined. Are they wallered out on the pin bores? You might ask over on the FTE site, lots of guys going IFS who remove theirs.

Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 The pin bores are worn but the "cheeks" of the hangers are more worn. It appears that the spring eyes were riding on the inside of the hangers at an angle and the sides of the spring eyes wore the side plates down to nearly less than half of the original thickness.

Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 I know a guy who makes regular runs to a boneyard in WI that has a bunch of 48-52 trucks. Email me and I will find out where the yard is.
PS -- Little Dearborn shows to have them quite reasonably, have you checked them? http://portlance.org/portlance/dearb...g_shackles.htm So does Midwest early Ford: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....~~~~~~0000266b |
Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 Ross,
Yeah, I called Little Dearborn. They are out of stock and they said they're supplier is out of business and they did not know if anyone would be providing these any more. I also tried to order them through Midwest Early Ford. When I went to check out, an automated message came up that said these parts are no longer available. Per rotorwrench's suggestion I am checking with All Ford Parts. I called them but they have to do some digging through their inventory and said they would call me if they find anything. Keeping my fingers crossed. |

Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 Try Sacramento Vintage Ford
916-853-2244 or toll free - 1-888-FORD-100 I have always had good luck with them. Rick |
Re: Need Help Finding a Part for a 1952 F1 On my F-3 M-H I had them welded and machined as Ross suggested. Worked fine. Then I found a spare set on eBay for the next M-H project from the RPM guy in MN. I agree too that somebody has done a M2 conversion and has a set sitting in the recycling pile. The guys over on the FTE forum might have you covered. Stu
