Mis-match Carb Halves and other minor oddities.... So I have been going through my boxes of carbs looking for a nice carb that is sort of correct for my cabriolet.
It is strange. It seems I have a mis-match in numbers of Holley vs Zenith tops and bottoms. I have like 8 side bowl carb tops, but certainly not enough correct era bottoms to match up to the amount of tops I have. It gets worse cause I have a bunch of later regular tops and more older bottoms. Now in my defense. My father was buying and selling stuff decades ago (I am getting old) so I not sure what might have happened. He would kind of slap stuff together. So that might account for the mis-matches. BUT, I bought a carb for $10 at a local garage a few years back. It looked nice and clean. I took it apart and realized it was a zenith top and holley bottom. There is another carb that looks like it has not been apart with the zenith top and holley bottom. So I am guessing stuff got swapped around over time. I also found the old repro venturies I have seem to have a mold line at the narrow part that needs to be cleaned up before use. I managed to get 2 nice original venturies out in one piece so I will use an original. Now I just have to figure out what paint I should use since you can not get he dope kind and the other model airplane spray paint is no longer sold. |
Re: Mis-match Carb Halves and other minor oddities.... just bought 6 cans aero-gloss fuel proof on amazon! Great for carbs.
