No brakes, pedal jams, found the problem

Replaced motor mount, this is the one I replaced, this brought the engine up almost an inch, now brakes work. Replaced mount with the car altogether, worst part was getting the two engine bolts started.spread the frame using a six inch piece of square tubing with carriage bolt, nut and washer between frame and bell housing.

Hi vern hodgson. You have just made me have a good laugh. Last week I too had the same problem getting the bolts in, took me 2.5 hrs for 4 bolts. I spread the frame/motor mount using a 4x4 piece of timber and a scissor jack. That finally solved my problem.

Wow! easy to diagnose but a bugger to fix. Looks like the whole car may need a restoration from what I see.

pssst you can grind a taper on the first 2 threads to make then start easier... Check out modern automotive fender bolts, they come to a point with the threads all the way to the tip (think of a drywall screw but with machine screw threads)

that way it self aligns when you turn it.

That's great for the remaining one. In the future. Good tip.

It took me two weeks to come up with a means of expanding the frame. I was going to push against the engine block but feared it might break. I would have kicked myself all the way there and back.

Makes you wonder, how in the hell did these assembly line guys accomplish some of these maneuvers, and not halt production "hey, what's the holdup up there,we need to get this car together"!!?

They also didnt have to deal with 85 years of dirt roads twisting and tweaking things haha.

I had some difficulties getting my engine bolts in my AA, drivers side aligned and went right in, passenger side the top bolt went right in bottom bolt needed slight encouragement but leaving them all loose as a goose and shoving the engine around I got all 4 in. I still need to safety wire them...
