What does this bellhousing fit?

This bellhousing will take the Ford V8 3-Speed transmission, but appears to be deeper than the typical 49-53 8BA style. Is it for the H Series Truck?

The bell housing is from a 48/49 to 51 Truck. It will fit a 226H or 254H Flathead 6. This bell/rear engine plate(or starter plate) will not interchange with the car components.

Are you talking about the V8 car components or are there differences between the car and truck H series components?

you've gotta remember that the '49-'51 CARS did NOT use the old 3-speed with the old, round bolt pattern. DD

I think Ford cars did pick up the H6 for 1948, though. I'm not familiar with the details for non-V8's, though.

That does not look like the truck V* bell housing I have. It isn't that deep. Like someone said, it may be for a 6 banger.

It IS for a 6-cyl. That's what "G" and "H" signifies. That goofy "un-round" hole in the middle of the plate denotes 6-cylinder. DD

Hi, just ran across this. "The bell housing is from a 48/49 to 51 Truck. It will fit a 226H or 254H Flathead 6. This bell/rear engine plate(or starter plate) will not interchange with the car components." <-- Does this mean I can't bolt it to a 1947 sedan 3 speed side shifter with a closed driveshaft? Is there a difference between a 1947 V8 3 speed and a 6 cylinder 3 speed? Thanks so much. I hope this note finds you well. Matt

No, you need one for the v8. Go to Van Pelts web site to see all the variations of starter plates
