Ford 1952 to 1954 Gas caps

Are Ford 1952 - 1954 Gas caps interchangeable with the 1940 - 1947 Gas caps, will they fit?

All I can tell you is that there are a lot of different part numbers. The part number depends on year and certain models (exceptions with station wagons are common). Some a vented and some are not. When you check the parts books, some have different diameter seats too. Some may interchange and some may not. A person would just have to try them out.

hi; Some vented caps require a screw to be removed to open the vent, older caps have stamped instructions on the fuel side.. New caps do not.!!! A club member collapsed his COE tank with an unvented cap this yr. Newc

I looked in a fuel cap catalog and it shows 32-48 is 1 7/8" and 49-70's is 1 1/2".

Thanks Bob, That was interesting so they will not fit one or the other.
