steering wheel question

Can a 1942 Lincoln steering wheel be swapped on to a 1950 F1? Just curious.

Re: steering wheel question

is the Lincoln steering wheel splined? because the f-1 steering shaft is splined. I might be wrong but I would think that the Lincoln wheel is tapered and keyed

Re: steering wheel question

If you can locate a Lincoln steering shaft you can probably weld it to the steering box you have. This is done with the Model As using the later box.

Re: steering wheel question

Lodaddyo is correct. Lincoln wheel is tapered key, F1 is splined.

To mount my 42 Lincoln wheel, I cut about a foot off the top of a passenger car shaft (tapered key) and welded it to the cut down F1 shaft using a piece of angle iron to get the shaft straight.
