40 Ford Diff

Can anyone advise me as to the number of splines there is on the drive shaft coupling of a stock 1940 coupe diff and is this the same through to 1948.
Thanks

The six spline pinions began in 1938 and were continued thru 1948 on the banjo type design. Stuff does get shuffled up after 75+ years though.

Several years ago, I took apart a '48 rear and seeing your spline picture brought back unpleasant memories. I have a beautiful 3.54 ring and pinion with a hammered spline.
