little off topic but at least Ford related

The last Australian Ford Falcon ever came of the production line yesterday...a sad day indeed for an Aussie icon :(. And we here in NZ like our Australian brothers have had a love affair with these cars too. Lets hope this can be followed up with a Ford win at Bathurst this weekend.

Our Falcons and your early ones were kind of homely but I loved the little 63 1/2 Futura Sprint 2dr HT with the 289 V8. I think the Australian version was an XL or something like that. The Australian Falcons evolved to be like a cross between a Mustang and a Torino in the 70s but we never had ones like that over here.

Falcons have been so long in most of our lives Downunder my Dad could never afford one and we enviously looked upon our neighbours and the Stock and Station agents who were given them as work cars the likes of Dalgetys. My cousin had a 67 289 XR light green GT offered it to me in 72 for 1500 bucks i regret not buying it they are now worth big bucks.
The Great Race weekend go the Kiwis Ford,Holden or Volvo.
