Study these pics & remember, these are REAL LIFE photos, NOT "staged" SHOTS!--I've BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!
Many folks came from HUMBLE, POOR beginnings.

Yep, we had kerosene lamps until 1951, not easy to do your homwork with those. We were amazed when we turned on the first 60 amp bulb. No wonder I have trouble driving in the dark. We had a dirt road in front of the house then they started oiling the road with a tar mix then spreading fine gravel to seal the tar so you could drive on it.

The farther we get from that era that more we need the lessons learned....

That would been my granddad. He loved his beans! Misspellings set aside I agree.

Thanks, I was afraid you would not like my humor!! Being a teacher and with everything needing to be political correct I am perinoid to say anything... I can tell by your reply you are a good man... The edit button is my best friend.

I did not have indoor plumbing until age 6 when we moved out of grandmother's house.
but when I see these pics, I have no room to complain.

Thanks for posting! I loaded a boat-load of old pics from a Farm Security Admin project on AHOOGA back in January. Your 'Fruit Tramp' was one of them, so we may have the same source - http://photogrammar.yale.edu/ . Priceless photos of a tragic time.
