Hershey Weather

OK, I know your going to say I'm jinxing it but it appears we are going to miss all the rain that's plaguing Carlisle this week. Has anyone ever put together some numbers about the rainy and non-rainy Hershey shows over the last 50 years? Thankfully the mud hole days are long gone......

Yup, since 1969 during the mud years, once it actually snowed on the field.

My experience, if Hershey falls early during the first week of October, beautiful weather. If it falls into the later part of the week, cold & rain.

That said, it is over cast & wet in the east this week. Perhaps the skies will be 'drained'.

Travel safe, JB

I recall walking the fields in a "wintry mix" maybe 12 years ago but never snow - first Hershey was '78 for me. All told, more shorts/t-shirt or jeans/wind breaker crisp sunny days than rain, let's hope for a nice stretch!! :)

if it's bad weather take your wish list because the buys get better as vendors try go make table fees and expenses. Wayne

Its all paved now which takes the fun from slogging. I hope vendors bring CLEAR PLASTIC in case of rain so shoppers can still purchase all that rusty gold.

And the forecast keeps improving!

Hershey requires preparation for the attack. Raingear, water, dry socks, snacks, food, clothes in layers, change for the bathroom attendants and MONEY. I read once that the average Hersey attendee carried $5K around. The weather is changeable. Wouldn't be Hershey otherwise!

My Dad (Howard Minners), my wife and I will be set up in our usual spaces CF-73 to CF-75 in the Chocolate "Field" selling foreign Model A literature and original Model A magazine advertisements, oil cans, petroliana, old gas/oil signs and all kinds of other pre-war foreign old car related goodies.

Deal with my wife if you are looking for a good deal - if I had my druthers, I wouldn't sell any of it! :(

I think it was 1974 when it was 20 degrees and light snow(flurries). I remember my wife and then four year old daughter going from motor home to motor home (to get warm) as we walked the aisles. Only to be followed the next couple years by heavy rain and resultant mud. Gee, I miss that! (nicely)

Banks are a joke these days, with their .01% interest or whatever low amount it is. The cost of the monthly statement is more than the interest they pay. And, no more free toasters.
