Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie 3 Attachment(s)
It's about time I introduced myself and my project.
Overkill-F1 is my nickname and my real name is Terry. My project: '52 Ford F-1, Canadian built pickup, 8RT-C1BA 239 flathead, 3 speed light duty trani. Rosie's first owner purchased her in Penticton, BC for use on his orchard in Oliver. A nephew of the first owner purchased her in '75. He sent her to a high school shop class and they did a ring and valve job on her. She got a new coat of paint in ' 79. After a long period of storage, the owner started her engine and shut it off right away because he didn't see any oil pressure. I became Rosie's third owner in '96. I took her apart right away, everything came off the frame. The body was in really good shape, but most of the mechanical needed a bit of attention. I trying to do everything myself except the engine rebore and resurfacing the heads. She going back together as close to original as possible. I'm not sure what happened, but I got busy with other projects, family matters, etc. The restoration got put on the back burner. I'm retired now and working on her again, and I don't want to stop again. The only photos of her when I got her aren't that good, but I'll attach them here anyway. The seat vinyl covering is original and has one small crease (the top layer is cracked, but the fabric underneath isn't even torn) as seen in the cab photo. The frame has been patiently waiting for me to get back to work on it. ...Terry |

Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie Welcome! I went thru that similar situation with family, kids, etc... with my truck waiting for me to return. I've owned over 33 years now. So I feel your pain .

Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie Welcome! Took me 9 years to get my F-1 done. But it's all worth it in the end!

Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie Welcome,
Thanks for the nice into. I do love me a 51-52 F1. These grill is my favourite pickup grill. Martin. |
Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie I handed my '49 F-1 over to my brother a few years back, but I still have a soft spot for bonus built pickups.
|
Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie I'm partial to the 51 & 52 f-1's, but love 'em all. Keep us posted on your progress. Reach out for ideas and experience. This place is the absolute best for both. You'll get "opinions", too. Welcome.

Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie Yes, welcome to the FordBarn. That's a nice F-1 you've got. We restored my '51 F-1 around 15 years ago, I've had a lot of fun with it.:)

I'm guessing you are wondering about the color of the paint? I'm currently assembling the transmission, and yes, I used Cummins Beige engine enamel on it. The color isn't a perfect match, but it's really close to the original color. I can walk into the Napa and grab another can if needed. ...Terry I'll take a photo of the trani and post it later. |
Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie Nice truck! Lot of F-1 guys on here... Welcome to the Barn Ken

Looking good, congratulations on a job well done. |
Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie Welcome. That's a great looking F1.

Re: Intro- Overkill-F1 and Rosie I'm looking forward to watching your engine rebuild.
I'm still stripping mine down, and prepping it to go off to the machine shop. I've got all the valves out now, just need to finish removing the crank and pistons. I've got to make a list of what I'm buying for parts (pistons, valves, etc) and what brand I'm buying. Kirk |
