Is there any difference in the leg room of a 28/29 compared to a 30/31?

Not sure, I think 30/31 has more. My driver's seat moved back about 4-6" and comfortable, still have trouble getting legs in, but once in I'm fine. Had a heck of a time getting into a 29 RPU and once in couldn't work the pedals. Good luck

I know my 31 160B has a lot of room front and especially in the back. Another member of my club has a 29 town sedan and his wife commented how much more room there was.

Many of the '30-31 closed cars and the deluxe models have adjustible seats that provide extra leg room. The '28-29 cars typically do not. As an example, I'm more comfortable in my '30 coupe than in my '28 and '29 coupes.

The 30 and 31 have slightly more room than the 28/29. However, they are still pretty tight for anyone that is 6' plus......Snowbird06

In addition to the differences noted above, legroom does vary by body style within a year. For example the early Briggs 60 A & B are tight yet the 60C, with its adjustable front seat has more room. The '29 Town Sedans all have adjustable front seats yet those built by Murray have less rearward adjustment than the Briggs. The 30 and 31 Coupes and slant windshield Sedans seem to fit my 6'2 frame the best. My suggestion would be to have you ask your club friends to let you "try on" their cars. If one of them has a early Roadster pickup, be prepared for very a tight fit! Gar Williams

My 31 coupe seemed to have more room than my 29 but then again, my seat was butt sprung on the 31.

the slant window sedans are the longest of the A's. I can actually set the seat back too far for me. I'm 5'11". they are still sorta tight getting in and out due to the door design.

I don't know about leg room but in a 29 coupe the steering wheel hits my belly. In a 30 coupe I have a couple of inches.....at least for now:rolleyes:

if you need room , i have a '31 tudor with lots of room . i would look at a '31 tudor if you need room !! .................. steve

take the seat out and make a new one that has less spring/cotton in it

no really there isnt any stock way to make it bigger
I have a 29 phaeton and i had to make my seat springs fit me.... but i am 6'4" and 230 lbs

The Roadster seat, and others like the early Coupes and Phaetons, is placed on a fixed frame and the only way to obtain more legroom is to change the size of the seat cushions. The Tudor front seats can be easily moved fore or aft by either rotating the front hinge support or installing an aftermarket device which allows the seat to slide. Gar Williams

I have a 1929 Leatherback Fordor. I am also 6'7". Has anyone tried using high density foam in place of using springs? I will do almost anything to get a few more inches.

No, it is not the ideal car for my frame but it is the car my dad had for years unrestored that I dreamed of having all my life. Now it is getting restored properly.

As a last resort, one could consider shortening the brake and clutch pedals by no more than one and a half inches. Doing that, the systems must be in prime condition and you have to be very careful about the maintenance of the clutch and brakes. Gar Williams

I'm 6' 2" and always have trouble getting into my roadster. I used to have a 31 phaeton and could get into it even with the top up. Now, my 31 Deluxe roadster would be impossible to get into with the top up. Once I'm in, even the steering wheel makes it difficult. Redoing the seat back sounds like a real chore, especially if I want to keep the same leather. I'm wondering if there is some way to extend the steering wheel.

In and out is not the issue. Let's face it, that is 30 seconds or less in, and 30 seconds or less out. However, you may be behind the wheel on tour for 2 hours. I bought a new zero-turn mover last year, and when I flipped the seat up to fill the tank the seat for and aft mechanism looks fairly simple. My mind was thinking... Sometimes the simple answer is the best. I have the extension legs Snyders sells, and they helped a lot. I have really long lags though. The shortest inseam I can wear on a pair of jeans is 38".

on my 28 tudor the front seat stations can be reversed to give about an extra 1 1/2" .
i am 6 ft and have lots of room driving it.
