Re: Wayne Carini A-400

I just saw the episode of the annual car show they have were they payed tribute to his dad. That A his dad restored was beautiful. My goal is to have my doors click like the way his did when closed. He mentioned his dad was very particular about it having solid sounding doors. He also mentioned he would use tar paper and tar I guess to line the inner panels to help the vehicle not sound like a tin can when Shutting the doors.

For the doors, we cut up old wool blankets, "glued" them in with brush-on undercoating, then a layer of undercoating, over them.
I "wunder" where old Buddy, Wayne, gits ALL his MONEY???

On the west coast the Velocity channel will show it at 7 PM and 10 PM.

By the way, in one of Wayne's previous shows he participated in TROG (The Race of Gentlemen) on the east coast. Ray Evernham also participated in TROG on his Americarna show on Velocity.

Re: Wayne Carini A-400

The show about the 400-A is Season 10, Episode 13, if you want to look for it online to watch it. That's how I watched it.

You may also want to check out Season 10, Episode 12. It has some footage of a 1930 Model A Town Car. Look at the top front door hinge. It looks like a Fordor Sedan door hinge.

Ugh my DVR cut out early, did Wayne buy it?

No, the seller had a lot of sentimental attachment to it because it had once belonged to his dad. Wayne decided that just finding the car was enough to fulfill his promise to his father.

What, you don't believe it was a "spur of the moment" decision? ;)

Nope, ...look here.

In 'reality', this show proved how a rare item can be taken from beautiful award winning 'Prince' condition and turn it into a frog ...sad, indeed !
A lion head and an ugly air conditioning unit taking up the front passenger space...that IS reality.
Little wonder Wayne didn't want it back. But at least he could told the truth about the situation. Hm, maybe he does not have the $ to turn this frog back

I think Hardtimes is spot on. Only other reason I can think of for this show is that Wayne is really searching for themes this season. Such a shame to witness these type of modifications on an A400.

When they were going through the list of owners they happened to mention that it had been in Atlanta, GA. If this is the same car that was in the Stone Mountain Antique Auto & Music Museum then I got to see it person several years ago.

One thing could be said that all of the modifications are reversible. At least they were driving the car and putting it to good use. If you lived in Houston, Tx I'm sure you'd consider putting in an AC too! It's so humid down there.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to feel that way. The car as it sits today is 'ugh' sorry but it just didn't do anything for me. And that black interior?? That was what they would have used on a Standard Roadster and an A-400 Model A sure is NOT in that category. They indeed turned a prince of a car into a frog.

The guy had a nice garage though I enjoyed seeing THAT!

Re: Wayne Carini A-400

Lol y'all better not ever come to a Texas or Mafca meet if that car is a "frog". Coleman drove that car when he was able to before he got in bad health. Coleman has probably owned more A400's than anybody in the world. He always had 1 or 2 around and that's the one he kept for touring. And the reason he's kept it so long is because it's set up to where he could drive it even in bad health, and it still appeared stock from the outside.

All those modifications... Could be taken off if desired. But the person that buys it will more than likely drive it an enjoy it. I've seen deluxe phaetons with a/c, overdrives, and overhead valves, as well as many A400's set up the same way. They didn't discrace the car, they made it more drivable for touring. Go to a MAFCA meet and you'll see 3 more just like it in the parking lot sitting next to eachother that drove cross country to get there.
