Is the quality that poor?? Replaced several 6v bulbs in one of my cowl lights in the past few months(same side) Is the bulb quality that poor these days or should I be looking for something else? Bulb tight in socket.

Re: Is the quality that poor?? The quality may not be outstanding but it would be prudent to check the socket and the circuit. Wayne

Re: Is the quality that poor?? if your battery is not getting good connection your voltage from the generator can spike and burn out your bulbs. clean your contacts. I bought a 10 pack of bulbs off ebay for 10$. because I cant stand to pay 5$ for 2 bulbs at the autozone.

Re: Is the quality that poor?? When I'm BORED, I sit in the house & watch bulbs BURN out! Then we go to the door & watch the GRASS/WEEDS grow.

Re: Is the quality that poor?? Make sure the bulb sockets are clean and shiny and also well grounded. Older bulbs were usually marked 6-8 Volt, new ones are only 6 volt.

Re: Is the quality that poor?? The new production Asian bulbs are not very long-lived, especially headlamp bulbs.
Try to score NOS at swap-meets and e-bay when you can. Also make sure all connections and contacts are clean and good, especially any circuits that depend on the chassis to be the ground-return. What # bulb are you using in the cowl-lights ? The lower wattage bulbs should last longer, and if you're using them for just a parking light, you don't need something bright like an 1129 or 1156 (if 12-volt). |
Re: Is the quality that poor?? Get #63's from NAPA. They are rated at 7 volts.
