Re: Trivia question...First Ford Day?... Please be more explicit. Bruce Adams is the go to person for the current International Ford Day. The first Model A Day Meet was in 1973 on Long Island. I am sure there are other events that fit your question.

Good question depending on your interpretation of a "Ford Day"
I'll toss out 1924 in Belgium... Or at least I think that is where this came from. |

Hi Mark W.,
I was there too! ....but at the second rally - the year was 1925....and the "Le Fordiste" was a publication in french from France. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attach...1&d=1470102812 Does your badge have any markings on the back? https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attach...1&d=1470102817 Fordially, Brad in Maryland |
Re: Trivia question...First Ford Day?... I bought mine from T-Bay and the seller thought it came from Belgium, but I also never thought I'd see a second one around, so WTH do I know...
Mine was never engraved either and makes me wonder if they were leftover or given out that way. Thanks for adding the info & pictures - all good stuff. |

Mark,
I stand corrected. "Le Fordiste" newspaper was a bi-montly Belgian newspaper (in French), not affiliated with the Ford Motor Company, containing articles and advertisements, etc., about Fords and the Ford Motor Company of Belgium. The "2me Rallye Du Journal Le Fordiste" took place on 26 July 1924 ending in Ostend on the northern coast of Belgium. The dangler that you (and I ) show was given out to each Rallye participant as a souvenir of their participation. Here is what the 1 July 1925 issue of "Le Fordiste" newspaper looks like (note that it is a full sized newspaper): https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1512281054 ....and the first announcement of the Rallye: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1512281054 ....and the follow up information about the Rallye: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1512281054 ....and page 2 of the follow up information including a list of the participants: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1512281054 ...and the description of the dangler that you show in your photo: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...1&d=1512281054 Hope that clarifies for you what your dangler is and more about the Rallye. So Pluck, where and when was the first Ford Day?? You never answered your question..... Brad in Maryland |
