Water pump mystery 1 Attachment(s)
This pump was in a running chassis I bought this spring. The seal looks like the one in my pool pump. It wasn't leaking in the short time I ran the engine. It was squealing but a little grease stopped that. I don't see anything like this on the WWW. Not sure what to do with it. I need a good pump for my current engine project.

Re: Water pump mystery Just purchase a rebuild kit and rebuild it. Simple and you'll end up with a pump that is reliable.

Re: Water pump mystery Sounds like some MAD INVENTOR was at work. "Maybe" he was a pool man??

Re: Water pump mystery The guy might have been fixing some other problem with all of that stuff. You might want to find another pump and rebuild it.

Re: Water pump mystery The fan looks like it may be an original 2 blade. If so, replace it with an aluminum pepo before it brakes and distroies your radiator.

Re: Water pump mystery That might be someone's attempt to fit a ceramic seal to a Model A pump. If it is, I'm not impressed with HOW he did it but a ceramic seal is a great idea. The original pumps were not too flash (stainless shafts are too soft), neither are the so called leakless ones vendors have these days.
