Rotor to distributor body pin gap
 

I decided to check the rotor to distributor body pins gap and found the horizontal gap to be about 1/8 inch and the vertical
to be about 3/16 inch. Help, any ideas on fixing this issue?

Excuse an obvious question, is the rotor fully Seated? If so, I would suspect either an I'll fitting rotor, or, the points cam is shimmed too high with a spacer under it. Try another rotor, and if the problem continues, check for a washer under the cam. If no apparent cause, you could trim the rotor to sit deeper.

Maybe the shaft is wrong with respect to the distributor being too high for the rotor?

Check for flashing in the rotor shaft cavity?

I have Nu rex electronic ignition and the cam has to be where it is located to trip the modul. I could shorten the extension for the rotor, but, if I lower it down I'll still have the 1/8 inch horizontal gap. The rotor is definitely seated and the distributor body is seated. No obvious evidence of flashing to cam screw and no washer under cam. The rotor looks new along with the dist, no evidence of carbon lines on rotor or dist body. I do not have another rotor but plan ordering one before altering anything.
Thanks for the insights and was hoping someone had experienced this before and had a solution. Keep the suggestions coming. I believe I will call Nu Rex back as I talked to a gentleman yesterday who was very knowledgeable and gave me some awesome information. After talking to him is when I noticed my issue.

Yes, it runs but no power on grades and engine shutters at above about 20 mph. I was gonna set the gap to .025 inch. I know there may be other problems but thought to start here!!!!!

The washer may be too thick, but try another rotor. The rotor has an irregular edge and looks like it has been modified.

get and original distributor horn and original rotor and I bet you the problem will vanish.

I agree that rotor looks like it was messed with. At least get a new rotor, but it wouldn't hurt to have the distributor body also, even if it winds up as a spare.

Yes the gap should be .025. As the other gave said, the rotor may not be seated fully, or the rotor was made wrong.
