Here are pictures of the '34 Cast Aluminum heads I got from Kearney >

Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 The 68-6049/50 were service heads that came out in '36. They are for use with domed top pistons. If you happen to have domed top pistons in your '34 engine you could use those heads, but they would not be show correct.
The 40-6049/50 heads, in aluminum or cast iron, were used in pass. cars from '33-'36 with flat top pistons. The aluminum Kearney heads are beautiful reproductions, and cost was $1500.00/set the last time I checked. You should be able to pick up good used or maybe nos original cast iron heads pretty easily, but finding good used original aluminum heads is more challenging. |
Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 Check with Fred Wilner at SSO to see if he has NOS. Barnfind08.

Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 I MIGHT have what you need.I believe the are 33 or 34. No numbers on the outside face of the head.....only the Ford logo .21 stud. Just behind the water pump flange where the head curves over to the head gasket area are the numbers 7-15-40 (left) and 1-26-39 (right). I soaked them in vinegar for about a month so they should be pretty clean. They are for flat top pistons.I have no idea what they're worth so maybe someone could throw out a guestimation.

Being cast iron they would be costly to ship. What are they worth to you? |
Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 Thanks to all who replied I have got a set coming my way.

Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 I am also looking for right and left Aluminum cylinder heads new or used in good condition for my 1934 Fordor deluxe sedan 21 bolt V8 engine 85HP. Can any one help. I bought a few used ones on line and they were all ended up unusable with cracks. Thanks

Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 Cast iron heads, '32 - '36 are worth (if you're lucky) the cost of postage. I tossed a number of sets last year as I got tired of advertising them for free - just the cost of shipping and having guys complain the shipping was too high.
I don't set the postage rates boys. |
Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 JM 35 Sedan,
It's the conventional wisdom that 68- prefix heads were service only but a search of the engineering release records at the BFRC in Dearborn revealed that they were indeed released for production use late in the '36 model year. '33 production aluminum heads have no part numbers or Ford script cast into their surface. It is only with the release of cast iron heads that the part number was added (I guess someone assumed that engine plant and parts counter workers could not tell the difference between cast iron and aluminum heads, just like they did with early '32 V8 heads which are marked R and L; a bit of an insult.) Ford script did not get added to either four-cylinder or V8 heads until August, 1934, late in the '34 model year. |

You posted on a thread that is almost 4 1/2 years old. You should place your AD in the "swap meet" here on the Ford Barn, in the "Wanted" section. ;) . |
Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 Good point! LOL

Re: Can't find heads for 34 V8 Pete, I have a set of those and they have strange combustion chambers. There is a trough leading to the spark plug area. Mine are 34 PN but are for domed pistons. Do you have any specs on them?
