what should I do

Need new tires for my 29 coupe driver. Firestone or BF Goodrich? Looking for durability not show. Firestones on the car have lasted 10 years, no idea of milage but a lot. thanks, Bill

Five years ago the last pair of firestones only lasted me about 5000 miles

Do you have two posts going with the same question? Wayne

Re: what should I do

You need something that registers well over 60 on the Durometer.

Less than 60 would give good braking and steering grip, but not last as long.

Well, from what I can figure out anyway ...

For my driver I just installed later model 16" rims with radials, would never go back (for a every day driver ), it rides and handles like a modern vehicle.

I Like the modern look! It's a driver, I like to stay traditional stock, with my old cars, but for a daily driver, 12v, good lights front & rear, and upgraded tires, sure makes a big difference, Brumfield high compression head, electronic ignition, and I just added Flathead Teds brake equalizers. That's about as far as I'll go with the modern modifications.

Although most of the guys in our club have gone to 16" wires with radials, I wanted to retain the original look, so I just installed new 550x19 Radials on my Pickup. Just from the littel I have driven it, the difference is totally remarkable. Well worth the time, effort & $$.

I would choose the Goodrich hands down. never liked Firestones products.

I too, was very disappointed with my last Firestone tires and recently went to the Excelsior Sport Radial tires. You need to define what kind of driving you intend to do and match your needs to your tire choice.
