stals after engine warms up I wonder if I am overlooking something. My 1928 pickup, starts fine, but after a few minuts of idleing, the engine will bog down and shut off.Timeing is good carb is clean.Any thoughts?I had a radiator shop clean the tank and they put a red coating inside, never seen that type put in a tank. After a few days of new gas, gasoline is a red color?

Re: stals after engine warms up 1) the carb is running out of fuel; the fuel delivery system can't keep up
2) the red coating is being dissolved by the ethanol which now contaminates our precious fuel. Contrary to popular belief, ethanol is very reactive and will corrode/dissolve just about anything it touches except glass. Pure gasoline will NOT do this. Thank you Iowa. The red 'tank' coating is slowly beginning to coat the insides of your fuel system incl the carb. Several threads on this on this forum. The rad. shop should not have done that |
Re: stals after engine warms up And why a lot of household clearners use it.. Ethanol..

Re: stals after engine warms up Is your gas cap vent blocked? When it stalls, loosen the cap slowly and listen for a whoosh or sucking sound. If you hear it, your vent is blocked and it's creating a vacuum. The fuel won't flow to the carb if there's a vacuum in the tank.

Re: stals after engine warms up The gas cap is a new one,is clean, holes do not look blocked or dirty. Thanks for your input
