Generator Identification 3 Attachment(s)
I keep getting my hands on parts I can't identify.
Here is a generator that I got from a friend. At first I didn't look at it too quickly and assumed it was Model A, but I found some obvious differences. Instead of having a stud for the contact with the cutout, there is a wire sticking out of it. The front plate, behind the pulley, is curved, and it extends into a molded front bracket. It does have Ford markings on it. I'm guessing Model B, or a later V8. Does anyone know? Is it compatible with Model A? Ken |
Re: Generator Identification There were more than a few changes to the generator and then B and tractor units were also similar. Maybe a copy of the Judging Standards would inform you. Look at some tractor units too. Have seen this type on As before.

Re: Generator Identification I'm not sure what all years it fits, but it is post Model A production. It should have two wire coming through he rubber grommet, one for the output, and one for the field ground. Cars with radios ran the ground wire to a voltage regulator. Cars without radios ran the field wire under the cutout mounting screw for a ground.
