Victoria and 400-A body builders... In the book The Ford Model A--As Henry Built It, it states that the Victoria and 400-A were built by both Briggs and Murray. However have heard that it was just Briggs AND have heard that it was just Murray.
So...the $64,000.00 question Just who was it? Thanks. Pluck |
Re: Victoria and 400-A body builders... I don't know if Coachbuilt.com is a definitive source but they make no mention of a Briggs built 400A. Looks as though Murray was the sole builder.

Re: Victoria and 400-A body builders... The Victoria Association has yet to find a body that has been proven to be built by Briggs. There are Victorias with Briggs body tags, but they have been reproduction tags, not originals.
It seems to be a commonly accepted "truth" that both Murray & Briggs built Victoria bodies for Ford,or that one provided the Leatherback style while the other provided the Steelback version. No records remain to back up this belief, yet they persist. |
Re: Victoria and 400-A body builders... I've dealt with about 10-12 a400.....all Murray

Re: Victoria and 400-A body builders... My 400-A tag (original) is Murray. I have never seen a 400-A with anything but Murray. So.... I believe the 400-As were all made by Murray.
