Victoria and 400-A body builders...

In the book The Ford Model A--As Henry Built It, it states that the Victoria and 400-A were built by both Briggs and Murray. However have heard that it was just Briggs AND have heard that it was just Murray.

So...the $64,000.00 question Just who was it?

Thanks.

I don't know if Coachbuilt.com is a definitive source but they make no mention of a Briggs built 400A. Looks as though Murray was the sole builder.

The Victoria Association has yet to find a body that has been proven to be built by Briggs. There are Victorias with Briggs body tags, but they have been reproduction tags, not originals.
It seems to be a commonly accepted "truth" that both Murray & Briggs built Victoria bodies for Ford,or that one provided the Leatherback style while the other provided the Steelback version. No records remain to back up this belief, yet they persist.

My 400-A tag (original) is Murray. I have never seen a 400-A with anything but Murray. So.... I believe the 400-As were all made by Murray.
