Powder for Powder Coating Does anyone sell small quantities of powder for powder coating? I found a company that powder coats wheels, but they do not have any Model A colors. They are located near Knoxville, Tennessee.

Re: Powder for Powder Coating No idea on colors, but Harbor Freight stores sell small quantities and the application equipment too.

Re: Powder for Powder Coating There use to be a guy advertising in the Restorer for the powder in Model A colors.

Re: Powder for Powder Coating Richard, just order 5 pound quantities from Tiger Drylac. You will need approximately 1 lb per wheel.

Re: Powder for Powder Coating My current need is for Model A Straw color. I looked at Tiger Drylac color charts and did not find a close match for an old wheel that I had painted years ago with Acrylic Enamel Straw. The formula for that came from a local reliable paint store.
The closest Tiger Drylac color that I found was between Bengal Yellow and New Cat Yellow. Their closest "RAL" color was RAL 1004. I would like to know what Tiger Drylac color someone else might be using for their Straw color. Thanks. |
Re: Powder for Powder Coating FWIW,
I used some of the Eastwood and other lower cost powders. Bought some Tiger Drylac and it works better with my cheapo Caswel Plating gun. I did my wheels in black so color finding was easy. Brent helped a lot with his various comments over time. |
Re: Powder for Powder Coating Funny how folks get EXCITED about Powder Coating! Originally, it was developed as a QUICK, CHEAP way to paint bare metal products.

Re: Powder for Powder Coating Why do you have to use an electric oven and not a gas oven. Never done powder coating before.

Re: Powder for Powder Coating Thanks to all for your time and suggestions. I checked the colors posted by Tiger Drylac that Brent suggested. The powder coater that I am dealing with has a color similar to those, so that is what I will use. Thanks again, Richard Lorenz
